Metering Current Transformers

Current Transformers (CTs) are instrument transformers used to measure or monitor current flowing in a circuit. In low voltage systems (typically up to 1kV, like 230V, 400V, 690V systems), metering CTs are used to step down the actual high current (e.g., hundreds of amps) to a small, manageable value (like 5A or 1A) that meters and protection relays can safely measure. Common Applications: Utility metering (billing) Industrial energy management systems Generator and motor current monitoring Low voltage switchboards Solar PV systems (for net metering) Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
